Since I did Core Synergistics and skied for 2.5 hours yesterday, I decided to take a rest day today. Plus, my P90X schedule says that today should be an XStretch day, since I'm on a Recovery Week. So, I just did 20 reps of the Ab Ripper routine and I'm calling it a day. Hope everyone has a fabulous week! :)
Currently, I am on day 27 of the P90X Lean Program. I will keep you posted on these workouts and whatever else I may do. But in the meantime, this is my meal plan for this week. Stay tuned for more updates! :)
Below is the file for my Meal/Workout Plan for this week. I'll keep you guys posted on how well I follow this (guilty face). :) Enjoy!
Yesterday, I spent most of my day being lazy, but I did manage to do P90X Shoulder & Arms. I skipped the Ab Ripper X, because I am now in my recovery week, and I figure I can squeeze it in at some point this week. Speaking of recovery week... thank goodness! I am so happy that I have made it through the first phase of P90X and cannot wait to see the results after doing Doubles in the next phase. :D
Yesterday I did the 10K Great Bear Chase! It was quite chilly, but turned out to be the best race I've had all season. Of course, just as the season ends I start to get fast! :p I completed the first 5K with a Personal Best (the results didn't show time splits, but I estimate my first 5K to be at or below 20 minutes)! I felt great throughout the whole race and enjoyed not being under pressure to do well. I finished sandwiched between some of my teammates doing the 10K with me and two of them who did the 25K (they started an hour earlier). For anyone looking for a great ski race in the Upper Peninsula, I highly recommend the Great Bear Chase, and I hope to participate in it again next year (maybe with the 25K if I feel ambitious).
Anyone else do any fun races recently? Yesterday I fully intended on posting an update on my blog, but then my Yoga class decided to go until 9:15 instead of 8:45, leaving me with lots to do and less time to do them. So, I shall make up for that by updating today for both days. :)
Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful 28 degree day... a little warm for skiing, but I'm soooo not going to complain! I went out for about an hour with another one of ski team friends and we chatted it up while doing some rather difficult trails (if you're super curious, Michigan Tech has a trail map and we were on Hairpin, Cemetery, and Skitter). It was really nice to ski and not freeze for once and I truly enjoyed every minute of it! She is going to be doing the 24K race in the Great Bear Chase tomorrow and I'm in awe at that. :p After skiing, I went and had dinner while waiting for my Yoga Class. It is an hour and half long class and I really enjoy it! It's called "Advanced Yoga", but it offers a lot of variations and variety and all ages and skill levels come. We spend the last 2o minutes in deep meditation and it is always super refreshing! I intend to do Yoga at least once a week while I am training for my marathon, because I feel like it is just so good for you, especially while doing endurance sports/activities. As for today, it is a Rest Day in preparation for my 10K race tomorrow. This is the farthest I have skied for competition and I'm both very excited and very scared. I'm not looking for record time (aiming for under an hour), so, I'm going to focus on having fun. :) Workout Plans for Today:
So, today I am planning on following the P90X schedule and doing Chest & Back + Ab Ripper X. Afterwards though, is when the fun will occur! Since I quit gymnastics last Fall, I've been itching for a time to go back to the gym and mess around (no pressure for competitions, just pure fun)... that time has finally come! The rest of my XC Ski Team is in Vermont for the Junior Nationals (and doing quite well, may I add), so, with no official practices, that means I finally get to see my gymnastics coaches and teammates again! Plus, I'm bringing one of my XC teammates to the gym with me (it was her first year skiing as well, so she is not going to Vermont either). Hopefully everything goes well and I have a good time! How about you? What are your exercise plans for today? My fitness plans for today are... X Stretch! I fully intended to ski today, but apparently my body thinks otherwise and I woke up this morning feeling awful, so stretching sounds just about perfect right now. :)
So, with the cross country ski race season coming to close (we'll still be skiing until April, but my last race is on Saturday... my first 10K!), I was in need of a new fitness program to do before my marathon training starts in April. I have already completely p90X Lean (as of last year), but never really followed the guide very precisely and paid no attention to the Nutrition Guide. This time around, I decided to do Doubles and actually try to follow the guide, just to see where it gets me. I'm modifying it a bit (switching around days, and replacing some cardio with skiing or spin classes), but hopefully I will get some awesome results! :)
